Beautiful Woodlands

Photograph of Woodlands captured while I was cycling on the pavement

Two days ago, I was cycling along Woodlands towards Admiralty at night.  Then I saw the lightings over at Admiralty.  I already knew about the event, the 'Pasar Malam' at Admiralty some time ago, but that was in the day time that I used to pass by every time.  However, two days ago, it was the first time at night that I cycled over to Admiralty, and I saw the beautiful lightings.  I didn't know that Woodlands can be so beautiful!

I only know that at Fu Shan Garden, there are beautiful lights at the stonehedge.  I think the MPs are doing a good job at our neighbourhood.  In this Hari Raya Puasa season, I registered for Ramadan Belanja A Meal and I got free meals for my family.  This year, I also applied for another event which is Back To School or something like that, got freebies like water bottle, school bag and cash for Isaac.  Many people in Woodlands love our MP, Mariam Jaafar so much.  She really organize so many activities and really help the neighbourhood a lot during these times where living expenses are so high.

Woodlands Waterfront

Photograph of my new bicycle

My old bicycle was not working anymore and I had to buy another new bike.  The above photograph shows my new bicycle.  There was not much options to choose at the bicycle shop at 888 plaza.  I just asked for the cheapest bike and was given a bike that I don't really like.  Next was this one above.  It cost me $322.  I asked for $320 and he accepted it.  So I ride off with my new bike.

Yesterday, went cycling with Isaac.  We cycled to Admiralty Park, the Mangrove Swamp and then to Woodlands waterfront.  We had not seen the playground for a long time.  So we cycled to the playground first.

Isaac played at the playground for a while.  The playground was not crowded.  There were only a few children playing.  Besides the tall bridges for the children to climb, there were four swings.  Isaac loves to play with the swing.  It is so hard to find swings nowadays.  I tried the swings and felt a bit giddy, so I stopped.  After that, we cycled to the jetty.

Beautiful Sunset picture of the Woodlands Waterfront

Felt so nice and relaxing at the jetty, to see the beautiful scenery.  We spent so much time taking videos and photos.  Isaac took more videos and photos because he was experimenting with his new phone.  As we cycled along the jetty, I saw a sign that showed No Fishing.  I was not sure if no fishing applies to the front part of the restaurant or throughout the whole of the jetty...

Get Paid To Exercise

So how was it like on the first day of working for Foodpanda?  This time I went to Causeway Point to start my shift, since there were many riders over there, so I just followed.  So it worked!  There, I was so fast to get my first customer on the app and I just parked my bicycle and walked to the shop to collect the food.  After I had collected the food, I click on 'pick up' on the app and then the next job is to 'drop off'.

Upon picking up the food, I walked to the bicycle and started cycling to the block number that was shown in the app.  Yesterday I worked for 7 hours.  Sometimes the distance to deliver is shorter and sometimes it was extremely long.  However, the earnings were kept constant at around $4 plus.  After 'dropping off' the food at customer's place, I had to cycle back to the 'centre zone'.  I had no idea where the 'centre zone' was, but just went back to Causeway Point.

Generally I had constant deliveries coming in.  However at 11am to 1130am, I was idle.  There was no deliveries at all.  I saw that there were so many Grabfood riders around, but few Foodpanda riders.  At this timing when I was idle, I saw some Grabfood riders being idle as well.  So it was an unproductive time for me.

Being cycling, I need to know my limits.  I was given a very far place of deliveries, a place which I was not familiar at 1130am.  It was admiralty road.  So I had to reject it.  It was no good to reject an order but I had no choice.  This will affect my acceptance rate.

Yesterday, I tried to accept all the orders except for one mentioned above.  At the end of the day, finishing my shift I was dead tired, because there were steep slope at Marsiling 'hill point'.  I am not going to accept this area next time.  It was not worthwhile considering the same amount of money earn, which was $4 plus only.

On average, within one hour, I just earn an average of $8.70, having two deliveries.  So for the seven hours that I worked yesterday, my earning was $60.81.  I had thirteen deliveries, some collected cash and some on cards.

So it was a strenuous exercise for me yesterday.  I was getting paid to exercise!
