Embrace Love

One morning on 1 April 2010, I was so surprised to see the holy spirit dove in the sky formed by the clouds. Then I saw the sun rising in the sky. After that, the clouds formed the shaped of a hugging love, and the words that come into my brain was "Embrace Love".

Check with chatGPT and it said: If you're seeing the dove in art, logos, or visions, it's often used to indicate that the Holy Spirit is present, guiding, or blessing a moment or a person.  The dove implies the gentle, guiding, and transformative nature of the Holy Spirit, in contrast to force or compulsion.  The Spirit doesn’t dominate, but rather leads, comforts, and empowers.

The details:

The Holy Spirit as a dove is a powerful and symbolic image in Christianity. It primarily represents:

1. Peace and Purity

  • The dove is traditionally a symbol of peace, gentleness, and purity. These are qualities often associated with the Holy Spirit.

  • This symbolism comes partly from the dove that returned to Noah with an olive branch (Genesis 8:11), signaling the end of the flood and the restoration of peace between God and humanity.

2. The Presence of God

  • In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit descended “like a dove” upon Jesus during His baptism (Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:10, Luke 3:22, John 1:32). This moment signifies:

    • The anointing of Jesus for His public ministry.

    • God's approval and presence.

    • The beginning of a new covenant.

3. Gentle but Powerful Influence

  • The dove implies the gentle, guiding, and transformative nature of the Holy Spirit, in contrast to force or compulsion.

  • The Spirit doesn’t dominate, but rather leads, comforts, and empowers.

I do not even know what it means to embrace love.  I check with chatGPT and this is what it means:

The phrase "embrace love" means to fully accept, welcome, and live out love in your life—without fear, hesitation, or reservation. It can apply to different contexts, including romantic love, self-love, divine love, or love for others.

Here's a breakdown of its deeper meanings:

1. To Accept Love Freely

  • Letting yourself be loved by others without feeling unworthy or guarded.

  • Allowing vulnerability and connection.

"Embracing love means letting yourself be truly seen—and still letting others in."

2. To Give Love Openly

  • Actively choosing to love others, even when it's difficult.

  • Practicing kindness, forgiveness, compassion, and care in daily life.

"Love is not just a feeling; it's a choice. Embracing love means choosing it daily."

3. To Live in Love

  • Letting love become the guiding principle of your actions, decisions, and relationships.

  • In Christian or spiritual terms, it can mean living in alignment with God’s love and sharing it with the world.

"God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God." – 1 John 4:16

4. To Love Yourself

  • Embracing your own worth and treating yourself with grace, care, and dignity.

  • Healing from shame or rejection by rooting your identity in love.

Summary of What It Means to "Embrace Love":

Unseen Relationship

Jesus Reinstates Peter (John 21:15-19)

15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” 16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” 17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”

Do I love God?  This is a question I ask myself and also reflected when I saw instagram post when people ask, "Do you love God?" and also when I read the scripture above.

I used to tell myself, we cannot see God, how to love someone whom we cannot see?  That was like in my 30s or 40s. Now this question come back again...

Yesterday I brought Taco home from VES hospital (Veterinary Emergency and Speciality Hospital) (Whitley), he was sent to the hospital on Sunday due to urinary obstruction.  I was so happy when I learned that he could be sent home yesterday.  I was thankful to Jesus for bringing Taco back to me again.  On Sunday I was so worried for Taco.  The vet told me the procedure and the risk just in case Taco would not respond and need to do CPR.  She asked me, "Do you want us to do CPR on Taco?"  Taco is just 3 years 5 months old.  To do CPR, they would charge around $200++.  The hospital bill that I need to pay was already more than $1400++.  I told them of course I want to save my cat.  I love Taco.  I always see nice cats or special cats at the vet and even in VES hospital.  But deep in my heart, I still want Taco and love Taco, I don't want any other cat.

Taco's neighbour in the hospital

The above cat is nice and they are special cat, unlike Taco, a domestic stray cat.  But still I love Taco more.  When I left the hospital to go home (while Taco was under the care of the vet to do the unblocking of the urinary tract), I immediately asked Jesus to save Taco and protect Taco.  I do not want to lose Taco.  I realized that Jesus had always helped me since young.  And I had always seek His help.  I did not realize that it was a relationship until Father Terence's homily enlightened me in this point.

I realize that Jesus is always helping me in relieving my 'stress' or burden.  He is the one I turned to for help always.  So Do I love God?  I am still asking my heart, but I should say I love Him, especially for saving me, saving my soul by dying on the cross for men on earth.  Thank you Jesus.

Matthew 11:28-30 --  28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Happy Convocation 2024

Graduation day for Clara and Weiyu, 26 July 2024

On 26 July 2024 I attended Clara and Weiyu's convocation at NTU.  Before the day, I looked at the invitation and knew that I need to wear formal clothes.  I realized that I did not have beautiful formal clothes to wear.  I also need to buy gifts for them.  On that week, I went Causeway Point to do some shopping.  First, I went to SK jewellery to buy a gift for Clara.  Then I went Metro to buy clothes for myself.  I also bought a pair of shoes and a bag.  Everything was new!

Everytime when I go Metro to shop for clothes, I got nothing because there was nothing I like.  However on that week when I need to buy clothes, I had got to purchase two pieces of dress that I had liked.  There happens to be a promotion for Kurt Wood clothes.  Buy 2 and get 10% off.  And it so happens that there were XL and XXL size for me.  Most important of all, I love the materials.  The clothes were of my favourite colours.  Even the Kipling bag, I purchased at discounted price also.  It was my favourite colour and material too.  Everything was perfect for that week -- even when I choosed the perfect gift for Clara also.

My perfect outfit for Clara and Weiyu's Convocation

Everything that I have and including my children and family, I thanked Jesus and God for showering me with love.  I am very contented with what I have now.

Very Blessed

Photograph showing the dining table laid with food for lunch

I feel so blessed.  Let me count my blessings:

1.   I have a mother.

2.  Everyday my mother prepared delicious food and the family gets to eat them. Look at the dining table laid with food.  Aren't they beautiful?  I get to eat my meal with my mother!  On the dining table there were 4 dishes prepared by mum and 2 plates of SongHe white rice.

3.  I have 3 perfect children.

4.  The family has a roof over the head.

5.  Our family members are all healthy.

Though I had lost our beloved pet and lost my husband and my father, I still feel blissful.  If I had not been converted, I would have no hope and I would be very sad now.  The old me always felt that everyday is the same, nothing new...

Give thanks with a grateful heart

Psalm 106:1 - Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Philippians 4:6-7 -- Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Dora's Pets

Photograph showing Dora looking at the terrapins

Photograph showing Dora lying beside the terrapins

Just like human beings needed a pet to entertain them at home, Dora also has her own pets.  Her pets are the two little terrapins.  She always laid beside the tank to look at the terrapins.  Sometimes she would even touch them and at times also drink their water.

It is so good to see the pets are living well and Dora showing affection to the terrapins.  Sometimes she would also sit on the chair to watch the terrapins.

Pass It On

Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)

I learned this song during my catechism class.  I did not like to attend catechism class last time.  My attendance was very bad.  One day, my mother dragged me till opposite the church.  But I just refused to attend the class...

It was just a song that I learned at that time.  It probably had no meaning at all at that time.  However, things were different ever since Jesus came.  God told me that there were purgatory and my sins were forgiven.  Prior to this, I went to the church to confess my sins.

Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  (Matthew 9:12)

I was sick and dead.  Jesus came to the sinner's house.  I am so touched.  He had died to save me.  It's bliss I found.   I want to Pass it on.

Jesus once told a story about a cute little lamb that lived in a pasture with 99 other sheep.  The shepherd took very good care of his sheep.  He fed them, gave them water, and chased away wild animals.  But one day, the shepherd noticed his lamb was missing.  Right away, he left the other 99 and went looking.  When he found the lamb he rejoiced.

Now when I listened to this song, I can feel God's love.  It feels so good that I am being saved.  So I want to invite you to come to Jesus and experienced His love.

It took me 38 years for God to answer my prayer.  God answers prayer -- I wondered why God never speak to people in present life, but only Spoken in the past.  So God still speak to us.

Follow Jesus.  Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  (John 14:6).
